PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader, that can surely suppress radiation of an unwanted electromagnetic waves by surely grounding a ground terminal of a board on which a photoelectric conversion element consisting of a CCD sensor or the like is mounted, even when the mounting position of the photoelectric conversion element consisting of the CCD sensor or the like is made adjustable. SOLUTION: The image reader is provided with the photoelectric conversion element, whose position is fitted adjustably is provided via an elastic member to a mount member onto which optical components are fixedly fitted, and reads an image formed by the optical components by using the photoelectric conversion element. The reader is also provided with a support member, that supports the photoelectric conversion element and is electrically connected to the ground terminal of a drive circuit which drives the photoelectric conversion element, and a conductive member that conducts the support member and a conductive shield at a plurality of points, is placed between the photoelectric conversion element, and the conductive shield covering the drive circuit and is elastically deformed with a force smaller than that of the elastic member.
