PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an oxide powder having a tetragonal perovskite structure, capable of thinning each dielectric ceramic layer in a multilayer ceramic capacitor and capable of imparting satisfactory ferroelectricity to the capacitor. SOLUTION: An oxide powder having a cubic perovskite structure synthesized by a wet process is heat-treated under <=6×103 Pa pressure to obtain the objective oxide powder having a tetragonal perovskite structure.
