PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a high-strength heat-insulating material, slightly adversely affecting human bodies due to no asbestos contained, having excellent heat resistance, mechanical strength, toughness, hot repeated compressive strength, etc., while having good processability. SOLUTION: This heat insulating material is obtained by impregnating an inorganic fiber sheet with a paste comprising paste solids composed of 40-80 wt.% of a heat-resistant powder, 5-40 wt.% of an aluminum primary phosphate, 5-20 wt.% of a curing agent for the aluminum primary phosphate, and 5-25 wt.% of an organic binder, forming paste-impregnated sheets, laminating the sheets and hot-press molding the resultant laminate. The heat-insulating material is composed of 10-50 wt.% of the inorganic fiber sheet and 50-90 wt.% of a cured composition which is a cured product of the paste. |
