PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic electroluminescence(EL) element having excellent durability, and to provide a method for producing a material used for the hole transport layer or light emission layer of the EL element. SOLUTION: The organic EL element material comprising a tertiary arylamine compound having two to four N atoms is characterized by containing (A) a compound in which one N atom for forming a triarylamine is less than the N atoms of the tertiary arylamine compound or (B) a compound in which one N atom for forming a diarylamino group is more than the N atoms of the tertiary arylamine compound, in an amount of <=1 wt.% ((A) compound) or in an amount of <=2 wt.% ((B) compound), respectively. The tertiary arylamine compound is selected from compounds of formulas: (Ar1Ar2N-)2-Ar3, (Ar1Ar2N-Ar3-)3-N, (Ar1Ar2N-Ar3-)2-N-Ar4, (Ar1Ar2N-)4-Ar5 (Ar1, Ar2 and Ar4 are each independently a monovalent aryl group; Ar3 is independently a divalent aryl group; Ar5 is a tetravalent aryl group). The organic EL element material is used for the hole transport layers, or the like.
