<p>An article feeding device (3) which continuously takes in articles (X) carried from the preceding process and feeds them to a quality testing unit (4) in the downstream region, comprising a pair of upper and lower conveyors (33, 35) for carrying an article (X) while nipping it from above and below, a photosensor (38) for detecting the taking-in of the article (X), and a control unit (40) for controlling a motor (37), which drives the conveyors (33, 35), on the basis of the detected result from the sensor (38) each time the article (X) is taken in, so as to adjust the spacing between two successive articles (X, X) to a predetermined target spacing. Since the spacing adjustment is made while the article (X) is being carried and at the same time the article (X) is nipped by the conveyors (33, 35) from above and below, the article (X) can be smoothed as it is pressed by the belts (33c, 35j) of the conveyors (33, 35).</p> |
