PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a printer producing a high quality print image. SOLUTION: The printer comprises means for pressing a head against a platen with a specified pressing force at the time of printing, means for stripping an ink ribbon passing between the head and the platen from a print medium immediately after printing, and means for pressing the ribbon stripping means against the platen with a specified pressing force when the head is pressed against the platen by the pressing means.
