A novel compression and baling device is provided herein for use with compressible products. The device includes an endless pressing mat that is guidable and formable, thereby to define a compression chamber. The compression chamber having a first open end and a second open end. The compression chamber is provided for receiving products to be compressed and baled. The endless pressing mat is delimited by a pair of lateral edges, each of which includes drive meshing means at the lateral edges. Driving means ar e provided for driving the endless pressing mat, the driving means having a pair of lateral ly- spaced-apart, rotatable end plates. Each of the rotatable end plates includes a transmissi on means for transmitting drive power to the endless pressing mat. The transmission means for transmitting drive power is in driving engagement with the drive meshing means, at the lateral edges of the endless pressing mat. Output means are provided for handling a compressed bale of product, the output means being pivotally connected to, a nd supporting, the end plates.
