PURPOSE: A hermetic type rotary compressor is provided to reduce striking noise generated on opening and closing of a discharge valve and to suppress damage of the discharge valve due to impactive contact. CONSTITUTION: A compressor includes a casing(11); an electric motor part(21) vertically placed in the casing and having a rotary axis(27) having an eccentric part(29) formed on one side thereof; a roller integrally joined to the eccentric part to rotate; a cylinder(35) having an accommodating space formed therein for the roller to contact and revolve; an upper bearing member accommodating and supporting the rotary axis on one side of the cylinder to rotate and having a discharge port fluidically connected with the accommodating space to discharge compressed refrigerant; a discharge valve(53) having a fixed point formed on one side in longitudinal direction and the other end elastically deformed centering on the fixed point to open and close the discharge port; a stopper member(55) having a contacting surface corresponding with curvature of the elastically deformed discharge valve to restrict moving range of the opening discharge valve; and a damping member(57) interposed between the discharge valve and the stopper member to be elastically deformed so as to suppress impactive contact of the opening discharge valve with the stopper member.
