The device has a blow mold (4) which comprises two blow mold parts (4a,4b) movably arranged relative to each other. The blow mold parts form a cavity in a closed condition of the blow mold. The plastic preforms are expandable to plastic containers in the interior of the cavity by impinging with a flowable medium. A pressure pad arrangement is arranged between a blow mold carrier part (6a) and the former blow mold part such that the force acting between the blow mold carrier part and the former blow mold part has a component force. An independent claim is included for a method for forming plastic preforms into plastic containers.
