PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication terminal device which does not need a dedicated buffer for storing commands and responses for/to remote diagnoses. SOLUTION: A command for a self-device diagnosis received from a host computer 10 is stored in an ECM buffer 2081 for error retransmission in facsimile communication for purpose of its analysis, the contents of a diagnostic item are analyzed, and a response prepared with respect to the command is stored in the ECM buffer 2081 to return the response to the host computer 10.
