PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk device which shortens a detection time required setting an optical disk to the device body. SOLUTION: An optical disk device 1 moves an object lens 4a to a focal point position (position where a reflective recording layer of an optical disk 10 is focused) determined on a design level when supply of an operation power source to the main body is started, and judges that the optical disk 10 is set to the main body when the amount of reflected light at that time is equal to or more than a threshold SH. Thereby, a time required detecting whether the optical disk 10 is set to the main body can be shortened.
