PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten a charge transfer time in reading by a line sensor having a light receiving part with a large width. SOLUTION: In this line sensor, two photodiode parts 21a and 21b having 100μm widths (Wa and Wb), respectively, are provided adjacently with a small gap G between the photodiode parts 21a and 21b, and charge transfer device CCDs 24a and 24b corresponding to the respective photodiode parts 21a and 21b are also provided outside the photodiode parts 21a and 21b in respective width directions.
