PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a load to a network by stopping an operation of an unused protocol. SOLUTION: A network I/F part 3 capable of communicating by a plurality of protocols is connected between a LAN and a printer body part 4. When a protocol is not initialized for a certain period, the protocol is stopped. First, a start date and time t0 of first time usage is recorded. An NIC has an operation parameter, and flags Fi indicating use and nonuse per protocol Pi is prepared inside this. A task managing part 16 reads the flags Fi at starting and operates only protocols Pi set to use. A parameter of an automatic Off transfer time t1 of a protocol P1 is provided, and when the object protocol P1 is in a use state, it is determined whether the protocol P1 has been initialized at passing of t1. If it has not been initialized, a field F1 of the protocol P1 in the flag is set to nonuse, and restarting is performed. |
