The machine utilises a high speed wheel with pairs of counter oscillating blade cutters (5, 6) at regular intervals on a nominally inset circumference. Traversing a guide slot, the section is fed tangentially by means of friction rollers, the feed being synchronised with wheel rotation to control the cut length. The blades are set in wedge shaped return sprung slides (10, 11) in castings (7, 8) which provide radial guidage, diametrically aligned rollers (12, 13) traversing the ramped slide faces to effect blade convergence. The rollers are sited at the cutting station and contact each pair of slides in turn as the wheel revolves, the blade drive system having quiet operational characteristics.
