<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To assure a normal track positioning of a magnetic tape in writing and reading for a magnetic tape device. SOLUTION: The top of a pedestal 2 of the magnetic tape device is mounted with a magnetic head 3 and magnetic tape traveling guides 1 on both sides thereof. The upper side of the magnetic tape traveling guides 1 have push springs 4 to press the magnetic tape downward and the reference end side of the magnetic tape traveling guides 1 has sensors 5 consisting of light emitting portions and light receiving portions for receiving the light leaking from a magnetic tape end when the magnetic tape parts from the reference end of the magnetic tape traveling guides 1. The sensors 5 are connected to a detecting circuit (not shown in Figure). As a result, when the magnetic tape parts from the reference end of the magnetic tape traveling guides 1, the abnormality of the track position is sensed. Accordingly, the track position can be assured if the sure contact of the reference end of the traveling guides and the reference end of the magnetic tape can be checked.</p> |
