摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device with which an image displayed on a reflection type display means can be observed with satisfactory image quality in a wide observation field while reducing the entire size of the device. SOLUTION: The image display device has a reflection type display means and an optical system which guides luminous flux from a light source means to the display means, and guides the luminous flux from the display means to a prescribed observation position. The optical system has a first optical element on which at least two surfaces A and B are formed on an same optical element. The surface A is a surface used for reflection and transmission which acts as a reflective surface and a transmissive surface when light from the light source means is guided to the display means. The surface B is a surface used for transmission and reflection which acts as a reflective surface when the light from the light source means is guided to the display means, and acts as a transmissive surface when the light from the display means is guided to the observation position.
