METHOD OF MONITORING SPENT FUEL STORAGE VESSEL, AND SPENT FUEL STORAGE SYSTEM EQUIPPED WITH MONITOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of monitoring a spent fuel storage vessel, easily monitoring the soundness of the storage vessel, and a spent fuel storage system equipped with a monitor. SOLUTION: The monitor 60 is provided with a closed container 62 disposed in a closed space 55 formed between a primary lid 48 and a secondary lid 52 of a canister 14; a permanent magnet 66 fixed to the closed container; and a detector 70 provided outside the canister to detect the magnetic field change of the permanent magnet through a wall part of the canister. A control part 74 of the monitor detects the displacement of the permanent magnet following the volumetric change of the closed container on the basis of the magnetic field change detected by the detector. The displacement of the permanent magnet is converted into the pressure change of the closed space to monitor the soundness of the canister.
