PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device and an image forming method capable of restraining the soiling of a fixing part by scattered toner or the staining of a photoreceptor by lubricant or a developer content and capable of easily and safely cleaning the soiled fixing part. SOLUTION: The image forming device 1 is equipped with an image forming part PIF forming an unfixed image on a recording medium MRC and a fixing part 20 fixing the unfixed image on the recording medium and this image forming method. The device 1 is also provided with an air current generation means 17 generating an air current going toward at least either the image forming part PIF or the fixing part 20 from a middle part between the image forming part PIF and the fixing part 20 along the recording medium at the middle part as seen in the carrying direction of the recording medium MRC.
