PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cooling system to cool a narrow interbore bridge of the cylinder block of a water-cooled engine. SOLUTION: The interbore bridge 20 has an upper surface and a minimum width central region 18 and the cylinder block has a water jacket 16. The water jacket 16 is extended such that a vertical surface 30 vertical to a water passage 12 is provided. The cooling system is two water passages 12 extending from the upper end of the interbore bridge, adjoining to a central region, to the water jacket and has a diameter of 1-3 mm and an included angle of 3-30 deg..
