PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a range finder which can correctly determine an object distance even if an additional object of high luminance besides an object image is present like a back light scene. SOLUTION: It is judged whether or not a noise signal component made incident from other than an object image is superposed in the picture signal of the object image detected from a sensor array, and a ranging method is then selected. Triangular ranging is performed when there is the reliability of a passive AF. When unreliable, active ranging using an IRED(infrared- emitting diode) or a stroboscope is performed according to object luminance, and then pulsed light is projected on the object to detect the object distance by regularly removing an image signal based on incident signal light in the sensor array. |
