PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper feeder capable of stably feeding a paper sheet even if being a narrow-width sheet and prevented from changing an air pressure, if changing the number of used paper feed units. SOLUTION: A suction head 4 is provided in the upper part of the tip of a paper feed tray 3, and a plurality of belts 51 are laid between a driven roller 50 and a driving roller 48. A suction air chamber 52 is provided and square holes 52a are provided in both ends of the both outside belts 51 and in positions to be intervals between adjacent belts in the bottom face of the chamber. An emission air chamber 61 is provided in the tip of the paper feed tray 3 and air emission ports 61h, 61i, and 61j for blowing air are provided in the upper layer part in the tip face of a sheet bundle S in projection parts 61e and 61f and in the side part of a sheet bundle in the projection part 61g. Double feeding prevention members 68 and 69 are provided in the side parts 61b of the emission air chamber in the lower part of the belts.
