Private house heating system - has water storage vessel containing fire place and flue extending for two storeys

The heating system for use in a private house comprises a closed water circuit with hot-water storage vessel. The vessel (4) extends over at least two storeys, and has at the bottom one a recess (5) in the form of a fireplace, from which a flue extends upwards (6) through the vessel. Thus part at least of the heat in the fireplace and flue is transmitted to the water in the vessel. A heat-insulated shutter can be provided to seal off the fireplace when not in use, and a further one at the top end of the flue. A heat pump can be provided for heating the water in the vessel.
