PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device of an automatic transmission which is possible to take a solid fail-safe step when a vehicle speed sensor is in an abnor mal condition. SOLUTION: This is a control device of the automatic transmission with an electronic control device 40 which sets a shift based on a detection value of a vehicle speed sensor 51 when the automatic transmission 10, the vehicle speed sensor 51 are decided to be in a normal condition and sets a shift speed according to the fail-safe step when the vehicle speed sensor 51 is decided to be in an abnormal condition and a power source 60 to supply an electric power to the electronic control device 40, and the electronic control device 40 is constituted to be set to the shift step according to the fail safe step based on the abnormal condition of the vehicle speed sensor 51 before the electric power is cut when it is supplied again from the power supply 60 in case that the electric power supply from power supply is cut in the condition of the vehicle speed sensor 51 keeping in the abnormal condition.
