PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal fixing device constituted so that vapor may not be accumulated in a fixing unit case and a user can safely perform operation near a fixing unit. SOLUTION: When the fixing unit case (22) is not installed in an image forming device main body or when it is installed therein but a paper ejection cover (19) is opened, a shutter (25) is energized in a left direction. At such a time, a vent (30c) is closed. When the unit case (22) is installed in the image forming device main body and the cover (19) is closed, a rib (19a) enters from a slit (30d) and moves a boss (25a) to a right side, so that the shutter (25) is pressed in a right direction and the vent (30c) is opened.
