PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive oil seal that ensure stable sealing performance. SOLUTION: In the oil seal 11 disposed between a housing 16 of machinery and a shaft member 17, a seal lip 12 formed of an elastic body is disposed to an annular core metal 15, and a abrasion powder removing lip 13 is disposed axially inside the seal lip 12. A sleeve 18 is brought into slide-contact with the lips and is fitted with the shaft member. An elastic membrane 21 is formed on an inner diameter side of the sleeve 18, which has a cylindrical portion 19 fitted with the shaft member 17 and a flange portion 20 extending from axially inside end portion to a radially outside of the cylindrical portion 19. High sealing performance of the cylindrical portion 19 to the shaft member 17 is implemented, even if the surface of the material of the shaft member 17 has pinholes or is porous. The flange portion and an end portion of the oil seal constitute a labyrinth to delay the entrance of the abrasion powder into a lip portion of the oil seal. |
