PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method capable of collecting a crustal core sample having no possibility of microbial contamination from the outside and suitable for the research of microbes in the crust, and antibacterial polymer gel used for the collection method of the crustal core sample and gel material. SOLUTION: In this collection method of the crustal core sample, the crustal core sample is collected in the coated state by this antibacterial polymer gel acquired by polymerizing an antibacterial monomer. Preferably, the antibacterial monomer is a quarternary ammonium salt compound, and the polymer includes a component by the antibacterial monomer at the ratio of 1-10 mol%. The antibacterial polymer gel for crustal core sample collection characterized by comprising the polymer acquired by polymerizing the antibacterial monomer, and being used for coating the crustal core sample in collection of the crustal core sample by excavating the crust, and this powder gel material are also provided.
