PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a fluorinated aryl metal compound, with which an impurity-free fluorinated aryl metal compound such as bis(pentafluorophenyl)dialkyltin, etc., having a slight discoloration, can be simply and inexpensively produced and purified. SOLUTION: The fluorinated aryl metal compound is obtained by reacting a hydrocarbon magnesium halide with a halogenated fluoroaryl in a solvent containing an ether-based solvent to give a fluorinated aryl magnesium halide, and reacting the fluorinated aryl magnesium halide with an organometallic compound. Tin is more preferable as a metal atom contained in the organometallic compound. A chain-type ether solvent is preferable as the ether- based solvent, more concretely, diisopropyl ether, dibutyl ether and t-butyl methyl ether are more preferable. Preferably a magnesium halide being a by- product of the fluorinated aryl metal is precipitated and removed or treated with an acid.
