PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure reliability of detection operation of a sensor by automatically correcting a connection mistake of a projector and a photo detector in an automatic door sensor adapted to detect the existence of an object in an object detecting area by providing a plurality of sets of sensors having a projector and a photo detector as one set. SOLUTION: A safety assisting sensor 6 is provided with a first sensor set formed by a first projector 61 and first photo detector 63 disposed opposite to each other, and a second sensor set formed by a second projector 62 and second photo detector 64 disposed opposite to each other. During test operation, only the first projector 61 projects light. At that time, when photo detecting data on a designated quantity of received light is not transmitted to a connecting part 73 for the first photo detector, the occurrence of a connection mistake is decided, and photo detecting data obtained by a data obtaining means 8 is replaced according to a signal from the respective photo detectors 63, 64. |
