PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved impact modifier for a polymer, such as a polybutylene terephthalate(PBT) or mixtures thereof. SOLUTION: As compositional requirements, the impact modifier comprises a blend of (A) a core/shell additive having a core comprising as a base material an alkyl acrylate, a polyorganosiloxane rubber or a mixture thereof, and a shell grafted to the core comprising as a base material a poly(alkyl methacrylate) or a styrene-acrylonitrile copolymer, and (B) a linear copolymer containing 50-85 pts. of a unit derived from ethylene, 5-40 pts.wt. of a unit derived from (meth)acrylic acid, and 2-10 pts. of a copolymerizable monomer containing an epoxy group. The impact strength provided by the impact modifier blend is unexpectedly higher than the impact strength provided by each component of the blend.
