PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To resolve problems that a conventional fuel injection pump formed to control fuel injection timing by using helical gears needs an operating means for controlling the injection timing and that the helical gear on a camshaft side and an idle helical gear mounted separately are mounted inside the pump, causing increase of the pump size and the number of part items. SOLUTION: In this fuel injection pump 12 attached to an engine E and driven by the engine E, the pump 12 is slidably mounted to the camshaft 51 direction of the pump 12. A pump gear 52 fixed on the camshaft 51 of the pump 12 and an idle gear 53 engaged with the pump gear 52 for transferring a rotational drive force from a crankshaft 25 of the engine E to the pump gear 52 are formed to be the helical gears.
