PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent disturbance of a display and reduction in contrast. SOLUTION: Each pixel A has 1st electrodes, arranged across a 2nd electrode 7 and suspended colored charged electrophoretic particles 5 attracted to the 1st electrodes 6 and 2nd electrode 7 to make a color display. The 1st electrode 6 of one pixel and the 1st electrode of the other pixel are arranged closely across a partition wall 3, while those electrodes 6 and 6 are electrically connected. Hence, when colored charged electrophoretic particles 5 are attempted to be attracted to the 1st electrode at, for example, a left-side pixel, no influence will be exerted by the electric field of the pixel of the right side. Consequently, the disordering of a display and the decrease in contract are prevented.
