DETECTION AND DETERMINATION OF ONE OR MORE SPECIES OF TARGET ANALYTE IN SAMPLE UTILIZING SPATIALLY LOCALIZED ANALYTE REPRODUCTION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve problems that it is usually necessary to perform a number of tests on a number of colonies before correct identification can be established because different species of bacterial colonies appear similar. SOLUTION: A sample assumed to contain one or more species of target microbial analytes is added to a growth supporting medium supporting target analyte reproduction so as to form target analyte colonines in or on the medium without allowing the target analyte colonies to migrate on or within the medium and further uniformly dispersing one or more species of labeled analyte-specific materials(LASM) over the whole. After the sample is added to the medium, with the growth of the target analyte colonies in the sample, increasing binding quantities of the LASM create localized intensely labeled areas in the medium which can visually or photometrically be detected.
