PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a belt for a shoe press capable of improving water repellency, and to provide a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: This belt for the shoe press is so designed that a moist paper side layer 3 of the belt body 1 is made of a high-molecular weight elastic material, and the surface of the moist paper side layer 3 is made hydrophobic so as to surely extract, prior to repressurization, water squeezed from the moist paper under pressurization by a shoe press device and migrated via a felt onto the surface of the moist paper side layer of the belt body.
