PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of controlling a mass storage class digital image device, using an SCSI pass-through protocol. SOLUTION: A command set started by a computer is defined based on the SCSI protocol. The command includes and expands a PTP(picture transfer protocol) of an industry standard, to allow application and execution in the mass storage class digital image device. A data buffer is defined in a form of data structure usable for transfer of information concerned in the digital image device, in the present invention. The protocol is applicable to a communication medium usable for connecting an optional digital memory to a computing system.
