PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wear resistant iron-based sintered alloy of hard-particle dispersion type, having superior strength at a high temperature and wear resistance, which is suitable for a valve seat or the like, on which a heavy mechanical load is applied at a high temperature. SOLUTION: The iron-based sintered alloy of hard-particle dispersion type has a structure, in which Ni-coated hard particles of 3-20% and solid lubricant of 1-20% are uniformly dispersed in a matrix, which includes 3-12% Ni, 3-12% Mo, 0.5-5% Cr, 0.6-4% V, and 0.5-2% C, by wt.%, and the balance substantial Fe and unavoidable impurities. The employed hard particle comprises ferromolybdenum powder which includes 60-70% Mo and 0.1% or less C, and the balance substantial Fe and unavoidable impurities; or Co based hard particle including Mo, Cr and Si.
