The control device has operating and/or programming switches provided with an optical display device for display information, and a garage lighting device connected to the garage drive. The electronic control device (18) has only one operating switch (16) and only one programming switch (17). Besides the basic functions of these switches, additional operating and/or programming functions are provided by simultaneous operation of both switches, and/or operating times of different lengths of at least one of the switches, and/or by different operating sequences of the switches. The garage lighting device (15) is designed as an optical display device and different display functions are implemented by different lamp intensities and/or lamp sequences.
