PRODUCTION METHOD FOR OPTICAL SELECTION PRISM

A technique for improving the optical characteristics of an optical selection prism. A block is cut along a plane perpendicular to a first direction to obtain a plurality of first small blocks. First selection films are formed on the cutting planes of first small blocks, and a plurality of first small blocks are pasted together to obtain a first processed block where first selection films are disposed on the interfaces between two adjacent first small blocks. Next, the first processed block is cut along a plane perpendicular to a second direction almost orthogonal to the first direction to obtain a plurality of second small blocks. Second selection films are formed on the cutting planes of the second small blocks, and a plurality of second small blocks are pasted together to obtain a second processed block where second selection films are disposed on the interfaces between two adjacent second small blocks. Then, an optical selection prism having two types of selection films formed on X-character-shaped interfaces is obtained from the second processed block.
