The invention concerns a method for estimating the volume of fuel in a motor vehicle tank, whereby the level of fuel in the tank is measured with a level sensor, said level sensor constituting a first data source whereof the signal is perturbed by a scale factor shift depending on physical quantities other than the fuel level, in particular temperature; said method consists: in using n other data sources concerning n different physical quantities other than the fuel level and making the scale factor shift detectable and in processing the results supplied by the (n + 1) data sources so as estimate the scale factor shift, n being an integer not less than 1, and in using a second data source capable of supplying an information concerning the flow of fuel consumed by the vehicle. |
