<p>An information storage unit for use in digital camera in which a request from a personal computer can be dealt with appropriately when the information storage unit is connected with a personal computer. In an information storage unit employing an magnetooptic disc, data of predetermined format is returned as read data if the magnetooptic disc is in an unused state for an external data read request. The information storage unit comprises means for making a decision whether the area of the magnetooptic disc corresponding to the read request is not yet used or not, and means for forming data of a specified format if that area is not yet used and outputting it as read data.</p> |
