Spray quenching device for steel plates - with venturi nozzles and water influx through perforated tube at venturi bottleneck

A quenching device for hot steel plates which are moved across a line of water sprays uses nozzles with a Venturi shape. The water is supplied through fine holes in a thin tube near the narrowest part of the nozzle at a certain distance back from the outlet plane and is atomised by a flow of air. This results in the optimum utilisation of energy and in efficient cooling by penetration of the Leidenfrost layer by the water mist droplets.
