PURPOSE:To prevent the damage of the title hollow yarn membrane filter during the exchange and transfer of a membrane module by housing the hollow yarn membrane module which can be freely attached and detached in a protective cylinder, fixing the protective cylinder which can be freely attached and detached to a tube plate, and facilitating the washing of the outer surface of the protective cylinder and the exchange of the membrane module. CONSTITUTION:The head part of the protective cylinder 6 is liquidtightly fitted into the opening part of the tube plate 4 in a filter vessel through a sealing material 5, and made freely attachable and detachable. A bundling block 8a holding the hollow yarn membrane module 8 is liquidtightly fitted into the open part at the head part of the protective cylinder 6 through a sealing material 7, and made freely attachable and detachable. At the time of exchanging the module 8, a module pressing ring 9 is firstly released, and the used module 8 is extracted upwardly and discarded. A fixing bolt 11 is then loosened to release a pressure material 11, the protective cylinder 6 is extracted upwardly and released, and the outer surface of the protective cylinder is sufficiently washed. The protective cylinder can also be used as the vessel for transferring the module by fixing closing lids to the upper and lower ends of the protective cylinder 6.
