A frozen sweetened food product, such as sorbet or ice cream, is poured into a supple container (2) in a liquid state. The container is closed with a lid (14), and set at an angle to the horizontal before freezing. The product (12) is then frozen at that angle leaving the neck (8) of the container free and a surface that is separated from the wall of the container. The frozen sweetened food product, such as sorbet or ice cream, is: (a) poured into a supple container (2) in a liquid state without the addition of air; (b) the container is closed with a lid (14), and set at an angle to the horizontal before freezing; (c) the product (12) is then frozen at that angle, preferably between 20 and 30 degrees, leaving the neck (8) of the container free and a surface that is separated from the wall of the container by a space that makes it easy to cut into portions. The space is equivalent to 10 - 40 per cent, and preferably 20 - 30 per cent, of the container's volume; and (d) once the frozen product has been loosened, e.g. with a spoon, it is easy to serve in portions from the container. |
