Aluminum-based casting alloy contains specified amounts of iron, copper, manganese, magnesium, zinc, titanium, chromium, boron, nickel, antimony, cerium, zirconium and scandium. The composition expressed in wt% is as follows: S1 maximum 0.25, iron maximum 0.2, copper maximum 0.3, manganese 0.05-0.5, magnesium 0.2-1.0, zinc 4-7, titanium maximum 0.2, chromium 0.15-0.45, boron maximum 0.0065. The following are present at up to 0.25 wt%: nickel, antimony, cerium, zirconium, scandium. The remainder is aluminum, with further elements and impurities of manufacture amounting individually to no more than 0.05 wt%, and collectively up to 0.15 wt%. |
