PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate setting and foldup of a seat device even under running without using a hand. SOLUTION: An assist seat back 6 is arranged between stays 2 on both sides and is energized upward at all times by a spring 8. Slide members 5 are loosely fitted on the stays 2 slidably, and the slide members 5 and assist seat back 6 are fastened together. The lower parts of the slide members 5 are rotatably coupled with the rear side faces of the vehicle seat 15. The front undersurface of the seat 15 is rotatably coupled with the top of a link 23, whose bottom is coupled rotatably with the side of a lower bar 4. A plurality of holes 26 are bored in any of the stays 2 in the vertical arrangement, and a stopper pin 27 is inserted into an appropriate hole 26 so as to restrict downward movement of the slide members 5. This allows the seat 15 to be set or folded up automatically.
