PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problems in a paper feeding device having such configuration that a shutter is operated in the interlocking relationship with a pick-up arm at all times in its mechanism that a descent width of a pick-up roller (pick-up arm) is small and the rise of the shutter is insufficient when many sheets of paper are inserted and the shutter also moves vertically when the pick-up roller is moved vertically per feed of one document and the document during conveyance is damaged by the shutter. SOLUTION: This paper feeding device 2 is provided with the shutter 21 provided so as to oscillate and a drive member 19 driving the shutter 21. The drive member 19 operates the shutter 21 to a descent position in the interlocking relationship with the pick-up arms 7, 8 when there is no document 5a, and the interlocking relationship of the pick-up arms 7, 8 and the shutter 21 is released when there is the document 5a to lift the shutter 21 by an elastic member 10. Moreover, a regulation member 23 regulating the turn of the shutter 21 is provided.
