PURPOSE: A torque sensor is provided to achieve improved accuracy of temperature compensation by permitting the opposed area of the detection coil interposed between gears of the detection ring to be the same. CONSTITUTION: A torsion bar is interposed between a first detection ring(1) and a second detection ring(2) which are fixed at a load shaft and a drive shaft, respectively, and opposed with each other. A first detection coil(3) and a second detection coil(4) are mounted to the outer surfaces of the first and second detection rings, respectively. Gears(10,20,22) are formed at the first and second detection rings in such a manner that gears are opposed with each other at a predetermined gap. The gear formed at the first detection ring has grooves(12) formed at both sides of the gear. The gap formed in the temperature compensation side is set as double of the gap formed in the detection coil side.
