PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elevator doorway device that is free of a failure caused when a foreign matter fits in a guide groove in a sill by constructing a lower doorway edge from a sill with no guide groove. SOLUTION: A side edge of a doorway 2 is formed by a frame 3, and the surface of a sliding door 4 for opening or closing the doorway 2 is opposed to the frame 3. The sill 10 along the lower edge of the doorway 2 forms an inclined face 11 elevated toward the rear surface of the sliding door 4, and a door leg 12 is attached to the lower end of the sliding door 4 and the lower face thereof is placed over the inclined face 11 of the sill 10 with a small gap in between. A guide 14 is arranged on a face of the frame 3 opposite to the surface of the sliding door 4. This structure causes pressing force acting on a face of the sliding door 4 to be supported by contact between the lower face 13 of the door leg 12 and the inclined face 11 of the sill 10 and contact between the surface of the sliding door 4 and the guide 14, so that the sliding door 4 can be opened or closed by means of the sill 10 with no guide groove.
