PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance recognition rate of an object by emphasizing a vertical component even at a state that a vehicle with the round shape, etc., becomes a target and an edge is difficult to appear. SOLUTION: This object recognizing device is mounted on a vehicle, measures distance of the object based on a parallax when the object is photographed from a left camera and a right camera and is provided with an image reducing means to reduce images only in the horizontal direction for each of left and right images to be inputted and an object detecting means to detect both ends of the object based on gradation of the respective pixels in the image reduced by the image reducing means. Preferably, the device is further provided with a retrieval area setting means to set a retrieval area of the object to the image reduced by the image reducing means. |
