PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for creating a retrieval key by a user while looking at a retrieval result to allow even a person without a talent for painting to perform image retrieval with a sense of painting by making the user's operation for drawing a figure closely cooperating with the image retrieval, narrowing down the image for every stroke of drawing on canvas the color and line of a process for creating the retrieval key, and displaying the results one by one to the user. SOLUTION: One or more attribute information is selected from attribute information prepared beforehand, and when the attribute information is supplied to a specified region, an image group with the attribute information and region attribute information created by the region is retrieved from an image database and outputted. The attribute information common to the retrieved image group is detected to be in the common region, and the region part of each retrieved image is displayed on the region part of a display device.
