PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a facsimile terminal that can be started by a button operation by a user even when a thin original cannot be detected, and that does not drive a roller even when a start button is depressed in mistake in an unintended of original not existing so as not to accelerate wear of the roller. SOLUTION: The facsimile terminal adopts a system where read start of an original can be set even when no original is detected depending on the purpose of use and a button other than the start button can be selected to start reading.
